Gabriel Island

About 10 km north of Cap Malheureux, Gabriel Island hides a dream underwater world – a paradise for snorkelling tourists. The entire island of about 42 hectares is surrounded by crystal clear water and their beautiful and unspoiled beach is what makes this protected natural reserve so famous.

As the catamaran reaches the peaceful paradise island and sets anchor, guests are invited to venture out into the stunning lagoon and enjoy a nice swim or grab snorkelling equipments provided free of charge from the office and discover the local marine life.

Others may chose to discover the white sandy beach, laze in the sun or simply relax and indulge and explore the island on foot before heading back to the catamaran for lunch at around 12.30.

You will enjoy the bar service and live music on the way back to Grand Bay and reach main land at around 16.00.

The Location

Between the villages of Pereybere and Trou aux Biches, the bustling village of Grand Bay is situated about 20 km north of Port Louis the Capital of Mauritius. It takes about 30 minutes to reach Port-Louis from Grand Bay and the airport is about 1 hour and 30 minutes drive.

The local bus transportation to and from Grand Bay is quite convenient, cheap and comfortable, and an enjoyable adventure.

Climate

Grand Bay offers a warm and sunny climate all year round making the place enjoyable for the sun, sea and beautiful beaches.

The summer (Between November and March) can be quite hot and humid and the winter relatively mild thus ideal for indulging into water sports activities all year round.
